Digital Transformation in Health Sector: NEXA’s experience in attending the Digital Health Summit

expo

Last month, on October 17-18, our NEXA team was thrilled to be a part of this year’s Digital Health Summit presented by the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) and eHealth NSW.

With the 2022 theme being Australia’s destination event for the digital health workforce – today and into the future, the event provided a platform for discussion around how the healthcare profession will continue to meet the challenges of delivering patient care in the digital world.

Mainly targeted at executives and management across Australia who work in the health sector, specifically in digital health, NEXA was honoured to have been part of this progressive event and had the opportunity to educate attendees about what our innovative digital solutions offer to healthcare facilities.

“The quality of the event really shone through with the right people who were looking for opportunities to change and improve,” Bill Thompson (National Sales Account Director at NEXA), said.

Read on as we share more of our Digital Health Summit experience.

NEXA’s biggest learnings and realisations

The health sector has come a long way.

With more hospitals and health facilities embracing digital transformation and tech advancements to create efficiencies, many are now adopting digital solutions to gain a more seamless patient and staff experience.

Despite all the buzz about digital health advancements, the underlying theme throughout the event was how human experience is still the top consideration when it comes to healthcare.

“I was pleased to see that this balance was highly valued,” Bill said. “Fortunately, digital tech and improving the human experience go hand-in-hand.”

At NEXA, we put the human experience at the forefront of all of our digital solutions to ensure this element is never overlooked, but rather enhanced. Our products endorse the overall patient experience by improving the efficiency of health facilities in so many ways.

For instance, NEXA’s Q-Flow Outcome Form is one of our most sought-after solutions. It enables hospital and healthcare facility staff to minimise mundane and often overwhelming tasks by simply digitising them. This allows staff members to focus on more high-value tasks, including patient interactions and care.

Top 6 questions NEXA were asked at the summit

Our team was thrilled to see that many attendees were already quite familiar with our products and mentioned that they’ve seen them in various hospitals and healthcare facilities around the state.

And so, we took this opportunity to explain a bit more about our products and answer some questions that were asked during the event, which included:

  1. “What does NEXA do?”

NEXA is an Australian company with proven expertise in improving the customer, patient and student experience, while making every interaction matter with the use of real data and practical solutions. At NEXA, we collaborate closely with many organisations across many industries, including healthcare, to improve patient flow and communication, queue management and digitise staff processes.

  1. “Who are you currently working with?”

We are working with a number of healthcare facilities and hospitals across six New South Wales local health districts and a further 100 + hospitals through Australia to introduce digital transformation and improve the patient journey.

NEXA also works with various government agencies, local businesses and educational institutions to streamline their overall processes.

  1. “How do patient kiosks work with existing appointment systems?”

At NEXA, we work closely with our clients to integrate our solutions with their existing patient administration systems to minimise any duplicates in their staff’s processes.

Our solution is very flexible and efficient to reduce extra workload for team members and avoids any double handling. In addition, our specialised integration team is also very experienced in HL7 integration which makes our project management for hospitals and healthcare facilities highly efficient.

  1. “What’s NEXA’s best approach if I have multiple sites?”

Our Q-Flow application is built as a core system. This enables it to be tested in your pilot site, and then rolled out across the other sites quickly.

For example, the patient administration system can be integrated with our Q-Flow platform and then once we deemed it’s working well at one hospital, we can expand the scope of across multiple additional hospital sites easily.

  1. “How many Q-Flow licences will I need?”

Unlike other software or applications in the market, Q-Flow licenses can be bought upfront and can then be pooled within your team.

For instance, our clients can have one administrator license which can be used by up to multiple different users accessing the system at different times. At NEXA, we actively work with our clients to find efficiencies in processes as well as costs by our Service Design team seeing how you can best use the system .

  1. “This looks great, but we’re not quite ready to implement it yet. What happens now?”

We absolutely recommend service providers think about service design early – well before the anticipated time of implementation. Completing service design early allows you to get an idea about the hardware, software and costs to prepare for, as well as the change management for your staff and patients.

At NEXA, we have thorough processes in place to enable us to best understand your specific needs and ensure Q-Flow is seamlessly integrated into your systems. This enables your patients and your team members to have a positive experience.

When you’re ready to proceed, we’ll be here, ready to help. In the meantime, if you have further questions, all you need to do is ask.
